CASA News : Calderdale joins CASA

30 April 2009

Development director Dr Guy Turnbull and Shaun Jackson were recently part of CASA's bidding team to develop a new home-care service in Calderdale.

Calderdale is transforming the way in which care is delivered within its local authority boundaries. An important element of this transformation is the development of a new home care social enterprise, Calderdale Home Care Associates (CHCA), which has recently secured a contract to deliver upwards of 1000 hours per week of home care. The establishment of CHCA is part of CASA's vision to expand the role of the Social Enterprise Sector in the delivery of domicilliary care in the UK

At the nub of CHCA's 'robustness is the relationship between CHCA, CASA and Calderdale Council. Not only has CASA secured through competitive tender and contract to deliver upwards of 1000 hours per week of care, CASA has developed a co-planning relationship with the Council, and are viewed as a partner in supporting service modernisation and improvement.

Offices have been secured in Halifax, and a manager has been recruited. Subject to registration with the Care Quality Commission, CASA hopes that Calderdale HCA will start delivering services in August – Watch this space for updates!!!

CASA Director, Dave Wheatcroft, has taken responsibility for ensuring Calderdale HCA's development keeps to time and budget.
